A new initative to encourage companies and wealthy individuals to donate to the arts will be unveiled next week.

A new initative to encourage companies and wealthy individuals to donate to the arts will be unveiled next week.

A commitment to involve the private sector more in support of the arts in Ireland was included in the programme for government by Fine Gael and Labour last year. The focus was on “building private support of the arts in Ireland exploring philanthropic, sponsorship or endowment fund opportunities”.

Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan said he would launch the measure next week.
