Martell Cognac Grand National winner Monty's Pass is none the worse for his victory at Aintree yesterday and is set to be aimed at the race again next year, trainer Jimmy Mangan said today.
"He's absolutely brilliant this morning and is out eating grass at the moment," said Mangan, whose return home to Ireland was delayed after he missed the boat last night.
"And I would think we'd have a crack again next year."
Monty's Pass cruised home by 12 lengths from Supreme Glory in Saturday's spectacular after an almost flawless round of jumping.
"He was something unreal," said Mangan. "I couldn't believe the way he floated over those jumps. He was second in the Topham Trophy last year and we said there and then we are coming for the big one next year."
A celebration and homecoming is planned for Monty's Pass and jockey Barry Geraghty tonight at Mangan's base in County Cork.
"He's due home this evening," the trainer added. "Barry Geraghty is riding in Tramore and then he's coming up to the village where I come from and there's going to be a big parade there."
