A missing Belfast bar man and alleged police informant could hold the key to the innocence of a man accused of attempting to murder loyalist paramilitary leader, Johnny "Mad Dog" Adair.

A lawyer for the defendant former paratrooper Mr Stephen Larkin (25), told Belfast Crown Court yesterday the prosecution has refused to either confirm or deny if the former barman of the Highfield club in Ardoyne was an informant.

The bar man named in court only as "Maguire" gave alibi evidence at Mr Larkin's first trial backing his claims that he was at a funeral and wake at the time of the March 6th, 1993 shooting. He has since "disappeared".

The trial continues.
