A man was tonight recovering in hospital after being shot by a gang of youths in east Belfast.

A man was tonight recovering in hospital after being shot by a gang of youths in east Belfast.

The victim, in his 40s, suffered bullet wounds to his right ankle, left thigh and left calf during the attack at Pitt Place in the Mountpottinger area. His condition was described as stable.

Police were investigating reports that three youths fled the scene on bicycles.
