What is it?Reflexology is a complementary therapy that involves pressure to various points on the feet or hands. There are detailed maps which link specific reflexology points on the feet to every organ, gland, bone or system in the body.

What does it treat?Reflexology is a complementary therapy which people often seek to help relieve stress, fatigue and anxiety, as well as pain conditions such as migraine, sinusitis, digestive and menstrual problems. However, reflexologists are not qualified to diagnose medical conditions.

Are there any contraindications?Reflexology is not recommended for sufferers of deep-vein thrombosis or any form of haemorrhage or undiagnosed pain. Generally speaking, reflexology is also unsuitable for those with diabetes, epilepsy or those on multi-prescription drugs.

How can I find a reflexologist? The Irish Reflexology Institute and the National Register of Reflexologists have recognised professional registers for reflexologists. See reflexology.ie or nationalreflexology.ie.
