Foie gras, anyone? The young Christopher Logue's new company - Gourmet France - specialises in just that, along with other specialities of south-west France, such as carmelised walnuts, smoked duck, wild boar pate - now there's a party present - and wonderful pates - treasures to be found in hampers which range in price from £20 to £130. And here's the thing: he'll deliver anywhere in the country, he says. Check out the hampers on his website: www.gourmet.france.org or telephone: 016674712.

More fine foie gras fare (bearing in mind, this sparkling year, that few things go so perfectly with good champagne), from Cavistons of Glasthule, which stocks Georges Bruck duck foie gras in 75g tins for £18; the goose equivalent at £27. Better still, fresh foie gras, which just needs to be lightly pan-fried, is usually available at 24 hours' notice. Expect to pay about £25 for half a kilo. Tel 01 280 9120.
