A former Baptist pastor who ministered in west Cork was back in court yesterday on bank robbery charges. Kieran Beville (48), Lauragh, Bandon, Co Cork, appeared in Clonakilty District Court yesterday on remand after being charged at a special court sitting on August 6th.

He is charged with stealing €3,365 from the Bank of Ireland branch in Bandon on August 5th. The alleged robbery was carried out at 3.30pm in the town's South Main Street.

Mr Beville was released on bail after the special court sitting. He was further remanded on bail to facilitate the preparation of a case file by gardaí and will appear before Bandon District Court on August 26th.

The court had previously heard Mr Beville was no longer a pastor in Bandon. It has to be decided whether his case will be dealt with by District or Circuit Court.
