Bruton meets Maltese leader

The Taoiseach, Mr Bruton, had talks with the Maltese Prime Minister, Mr Edward Fenech Adami, during his official visit to Malta yesterday.

An official statement said among the issues discussed were Malta's application to join the European Union, the Irish presidency of the Union which begins on July 1st, "Mediterranean issues", bilateral trade and the Northern peace process.

Mr Bruton invited Mr Adami to visit Ireland.
