A reference book containing biographies of thousands of Irish people has been honoured by the Association of American Publishers.
The Dictionary of Irish Biography, a collaboration between the Royal Irish Academy and Cambridge University Press, was given the award for professional and scholarly excellence as a multi-volume reference work in the humanities and social sciences.
The book, edited by James McGuire and James Quinn, contains biographies of Irish religious figures, artists, writers and politicians.
