Detectives in Lisburn have issued an appeal following the attempted abduction of a nine-year-old girl in the Grosvenor Road area of the city earlier this week.
The girl was making her way home from school through the Lisburn Leisureplex grounds shortly after 3.30pm on Tuesday when she was approached by a man in a dark blue car.
The man said he had been sent to collect her after being asked to do so by the girl's mother. When she walked away the man grabbed her by the arm. She managed to escape and was described by police as being "unhurt but badly shaken by the ordeal".
The man was described as being about 40, of heavy build, with short and slightly spiked blonde hair. The PSNI said he had spotty forehead and a piercing on his lower lip.
He was wearing a Rangers top, plain navy jacket and black tracksuit bottoms. He had a dragon-style tattoo on his right hand and was wearing black boots with pink and green laces.
The vehicle was described as being small with some sort of a spoiler to the rear. Police said there was a light coloured labrador dog in the vehicle.
