Armed gang steals £1.5m worth of cigarettes

Gardaí are searching for a container of stolen cigarettes valued at £1.5 million.

Gardaí are searching for a container of stolen cigarettes valued at £1.5 million.

The cigarettes were stolen from Dublin Ferry Port last night when three masked men, one armed with a handgun, held up the consignment.

A security guard was locked in a toilet while another was held in a car. He was later released unharmed in the Phoenix Park.

Gardaí are looking for a Scania lorry with a container and three men. Two of the men are thought to be in their thirties and the other to be in his twenties.

All three are roughly five foot and eight inches in height.
