American Olympic sprint champion Marty Nothstein was fined US$500 for dangerous riding after four cyclists were hospitalised with minor injuries resulting from a crash at the Goodwill Games today.

Nothstein finished third in a tense elimination final won by Sydney Olympic gold medallist, Brett Aitken of Australia.

The American earned $1000 prizemoney in the elimination final as he prepares for the world championships in Antwerp in October.

Nothstein was also fined $100 after finishing third and received $1000 prizemoney on Saturday.

His bumping duel with Hayden Godfrey had left the New Zealand rider lying on the inside of the track during the men's scratch race with wounds to his left knee and elbow.

The four riders who crashed in today’s race were Bernhard Wachter of Germany, Ilijo Keisse of Belgium, Abbas Saeidilanha of the Asia All Stars and Vladimir Kiriltsev of Russia.
