Accused Washington-area sniper Mr John Allen Muhammad will go on trial in Virginia from October 14th next year, a prosecutor said today.
Mr Muhammad and his teenaged accomplice will face the death penalty if found guilty in connection with the string of 10 killings and three woundings that sparked three weeks of panic in the Washington region in October this year.
Virginia state attorney Mr Paul Ebert said the trial was expected to last six weeks.
Evidence will likely be presented from shootings in the southern US states of Alabama and Georgia as well as from the West Coast state of Washington, where the two men are known to have travelled.
