1,100 killed by Burundi army - UN

GENEVA - The UN yesterday said that Burundi's army killed at least 1,100 people in October and November, including hundreds of Hutu refugees returning from east Zaire.

The UN human rights office, in reports based on its investigations and eyewitness testimony, said Hutu rebels battling the Tutsi dominated army also killed scores of civilians in the same period.
