Trudging home from work after a long day, who wouldn’t be tempted by the aroma of a marinated, spit-roasted, free-range chicken? Which is why Gavin McCarthy and Sara Mitchell have decided to keep their Poulet Bonne Femme rotisserie at the new Ranelagh Food Market (near Superquinn) open until 7pm on Thursdays to Sundays.

The after-work crowd are also snapping up their new creamy chicken casseroles – made to a traditional Poulet Bonne Femme recipe, and their spicy wings with blue cheese dressing.

McCarthy and Mitchell set up their mobile rotisserie in May, and it is proving to be a runaway success. Their chickens are all Irish free-range specimens, and they sell for €12.50 for a whole bird (€7 for a half, €4 for a quarter).

In addition to its Ranelagh residency, you’ll find Poulet Bonne Femme at Dublin weekly markets on Mespil Road (Thursdays, noon-2pm), Sandyford Industrial Estate (Fridays, noon-2pm), Marlay Park (Saturdays, 10am-4pm) and People’s Park, Dún Laoghaire (Sundays, 10am-5pm).
