The Margin was amused by the joke on a T-shirt for sale in the Multiples exhibition in Temple Bar Galleries in Dublin, although those in the know say it is an old joke in conceptual art circles.

Multiples, by the way, is a new idea whereby well-known and emerging artists from around Europe are being commissioned to produce editions of simple conceptual art items which are then offered for sale at affordable prices. At the upper end of the price range are limited edition black and white photographs by the Glen Dimplex award-winner, Gerald Byrne, showing him standing on a street in Manhattan with a placard proclaiming "the end of architecture is nigh". These retail for £800 a piece. On the other hand large red T-shirts by Maurice O'Connell, carrying the above-mentioned joke, retail for just £30.

And so to the joke: two cannibals and a curator are in a restaurant and have been served with clown in a white wine sauce with salad. The curator turns to his dining companions and says: "Does this taste funny to you?"

The T-shirts come in a limited edition of just 20. For those interested Multiples has a website at www.language.ie/multiples
