The first team to secure promotion this season in any division did so at Belfield where UCD's 38-20 win over Bohemians on Saturday ensured that they would join their Cork colleagues UCC in Division Two next season. The students currently top section A of Division Three with 18 points. Second-placed NIFC, on 16 points, did not play this weekend.

The win capped what was an enormous week for two of the college side's star players. Brian O'Driscoll and Ciaran Scally were both drafted into Warren Gatland's Irish squad for the game against Italy next Saturday.

Having had a good run in this year's European Students' Championship, the talented young side, following on from their crucial win over Monkstown last week, ran in six tries against the Limerick visitors through O'Driscoll, full back Phillip Bredin, loose head Michael Moynagh, second row Colm Keane and two from flanker Joe Shine.

There were a few nervous moments as Bohemians replacement David Murphy ran in two tries in quick succession late in the game, but the last score of the match fell to Keane to cap off a highly successful season for a very young and entertaining side.
