Nigel Winterburn will definitely miss the final game of Arsenal's title defence against Aston Villa after undergoing surgery on his broken nose. The experienced full back was left bloodied and bruised after a collision with Leeds defender Alf-Inge Haaland on Tuesday night.

Celtic defender Jackie McNamara will undergo knee surgery which will keep him out of the Scottish Cup final against Rangers on May 29th. He will also miss Scotland's Euro 2000 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and the Faroe Islands in June.

The final list of FAI National league suspensions, due to take effect from May 25th, will be carried over to the first competitive fixture for the clubs concerned next season, as all games will have been completed by that date.

Next season's suspensions: Two games - Eddie Gormley (St Patrick's Athletic); One game: Trevor Scanlon (Finn Harps), Ciaran Duffy (St Francis), Ian Bennis (Cobh Ramblers), Jim Fyffe (Limerick FC), Liam McCann (Drogheda United, Reserve Division). One game - Barry O'Connor (Bray Wanderers), Graham Lawlor (Bohemians), Jason Sherlock, Marc Kenny (both Shamrock Rovers), Roy Fox, Gerry Boyle (both Drogheda United), Eddie Van Boxtel (Monaghan United).
