Pat Eddery will have one more consultation with his specialist, Nigel Henderson, on Tuesday before making his comeback from a broken left hip. Eddery, who sustained the injury in a fall in Austria last month, was hoping to return on Monday after seeing Henderson yesterday morning. But the Irishman, who broke two bones in his hip when his mount Heinsberg came down on the final bend of the Austrian Derby, has been advised to wait another 48 hours before race-riding again and is now targeting Wednesday for his resumption. "I have got to go back and see him on Tuesday and he will hopefully give me the all-clear then," said the 11-time champion yesterday afternoon. "He said it has all healed very nicely and to come back and see him on Tuesday. Hopefully I will be able to ride from then on. I was hoping to come back on Monday but he said just to give it an extra couple of days. I have been doing plenty of exercise - running, cycling and swimming. I can't wait to get back but I have to listen to the people who are professionals. I don't want to go out and mess it up again." Asked whether such injuries made him contemplate retirement from the saddle, Eddery answered: "Oh God no! I haven't even thought about that."
