In the 70s, they made football chic and managed the nigh impossible task of whipping all round them while remaining popular. They were, of course, denied an improbable five-in-a-row by a certain Offaly man. Still, four on the trot ain't bad. The torch of greatness has been passed on steadily throughout the generations, from Mick O'Connell to Jack O'Shea and on to Maurice Fitzgerald. It is often forgotten that the Kerry women's team dominated the game for most of the 1980s also.
