Sir, - First let me congratulate The Irish Times on the excellent supplement on the Belfast Agreement, a record of historical importance which will be preserved by many.It is extraordinary, therefore, that none of the women who played a vital part in bringing about that peace were interviewed. These women throughout the years have worked together across political and religious divides to bring comfort and hope to the victims of violence committed by both sides. The opinion of the Northern Ireland Women's Coalition was not reported, except for one mention of Monica McWilliams, yet the work of this organisation has been acknowledged by Senator George Mitchell in the Boston Globe on 7th April 1998: "The Women's Coalition are professional, prepared and I think they have made an enormous contribution to the process."The Women's Coalition is a serious political organisation which recognises that no government could claim to be representative without the inclusion of women. The Coalition will contest the election and they are worthy of support. I hope that other political parties will also nominate women candidates. - Yours, etc.,Hilda Tweedy,Stillorgan, Co Dublin.
