Ministers quitting teaching posts

Madam, – I agree entirely with Pat Murphy’s reasonable suggestion (February 9th)

Madam, – I agree entirely with Pat Murphy’s reasonable suggestion (February 9th). However, Government Ministers vacating teaching posts in order to allow young teachers to acquire permanent positions may have become a fantasy since December 1st, 2010.

In late November, the Department of Education published Circular 67/2010, which states that “any permanent teaching vacancies with the exception of school principal and deputy principal posts, that arise between December 1st, 2010 and the end of the school year may be filled only on a temporary basis”. – Yours, etc,
