Sir, – Mary Hannigan was writing about sporting acronyms (“Hacks surrender to a new acronym”, Sports Monday, March 15th) but she never mentioned RUGBY: Run Unto Guys Before You, in which Ireland is supreme.
Our players can always find an opposing player – or even two – to run straight into while other teams keep missing the target.
Just look at the English and French players on Saturday running past each other all the time without a clue as to how to play this game. – Yours, etc,
