A chara, - As a secondary school teacher I totally disagree with Fine Gael spokesperson Brian Hayes's proposal to provide a laptop to every second-level student ( The Irish Times, October 3rd). This would not be €167 million well spent.
On the other hand, I agree with the Minister for Education when she says that a good teacher is a good teacher regardless.
However, who is to know who is a good teacher when inspection visits are pre-planned? If money is to be spent on education, why not put it into finding the best teachers - a more valuable resource. - Is mise,
