Madam, – Recently my wife and I decided to have bacon and cabbage, a dish, of which we are both very fond. The bacon came from Ireland, but I discovered the cabbage came from Spain.
Can we no longer grow cabbage in Ireland or, with our minimum wage so high, can the farmers not afford the casual labour to harvest it? I can understand the importation of strawberries for Christmas, but the transportation of an item that we should produce here makes no sense. – Yours, etc,
