LONDON - A 15 year old youth accused of murdering the Wicklow born headmaster Philip Lawrence was remanded yesterday into local authority secure accommodation until Tuesday.

The teenager, from Camden, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged on Thursday with murdering Mr Lawrence on December 8th. He is further charged with conspiring with persons unknown to wound a schoolboy with the intention of causing grievous bodily harm.

He appeared in custody before Highbury Corner Youth Court in north London yesterday. Mr Lawrence (48), a father of four, died after he was stabbed when he went to the aid of a pupil following a disturbance outside St George's Catholic School, Maida Vale west London.
