Police in Northern Ireland are investigating an assault on a shop assistant who was struck on the head with a claw hammer during an attempted robbery in Co Down.
The assault happened at 10.50 p.m. last night at a service station on the Dundrum road in Newcastle.
The 19-year-old woman was taken to hospital for treatment but later released.
