A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man who walked out of court moments before he was due to stand trial for possession of ecstasy tablets.

Judge Cyril Kelly issued a bench warrant in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court yesterday for the arrest of the 27 year old Dublin man, who was on bail. He is charged with possessing 42 ecstasy tablets for supply in October last year.

When the case was called, defence counsel Ms Iseult O'Malley told Judge Kelly and the jury panel that her client had stepped out of the courtroom for a moment. A short time later, the man's solicitor indicated that he was not in the precincts of the court.
