Two men have been arrested in connection with the murders of Ulster Defence Association boss Mr John Gregg and UDA member Mr Robert Carson in Belfast.
Mr Gregg (45) the UDA's south-east Antrim commander, and UDA member Mr Carson (33) were gunned down in the docks area of the city as they returned home from a Glasgow Rangers game.
The attack has been linked to a loyalist feud between rival factions.
Mr Gregg who was targeted twice in recent weeks, was one of the members of the UDA's inner council which expelled Johnny 'Mad Dog' Adair and Mr John White from the organisation in September.
Mr Gregg, who had a wife and son and two stepdaughters, was jailed for 18 years for shooting Sinn Fein president Mr Gerry Adams in 1984.
The double murder brings to four the number of people killed in this latest feud.
