The Department of Defence said it will make no decision on the future of the Air Corps display team, the Silver Swallows, until a comprehensive review of the force is completed later this year.
Following speculation that a number of the unit's elderly aircraft were being taken out of commission, the Department said there were "no plans to disband the Silver Swallows".
A spokesman confirmed that there was "no question of any major decision" until a Price Waterhouse review of the Air Corps and Naval Service was completed. The study is expected to be finished before the end of the year.
