A large-scale search is expected to resume today for a 38-year-old man who went out in a kayak on an inland lake near Cromane, Co Kerry, in the early hours and failed to return.

The missing man has been named locally as Nealie O’Connor, the father of a two-month-old baby. He had set out on the lake at 3am.

His partner raised the alarm at 8am when he failed to return from his kayaking trip.
