SEVERAL hundred NUI Galway students attended a removal ceremony on campus last evening for Sorcha Rose McLoughlin (19), one of the four women who died in a crash on the Galway-Mayo border on Tuesday.

The fifth student in the group, Michelle O’Donnell (21), was described as still critical yesterday in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. Ms O’Donnell sustained serious head and chest injuries in the crash on the N17 between Ballindine, Co Mayo, and Milltown, Co Galway.

She was transferred to Beaumont Hospital on Wednesday.

Prayers were said for all the families at yesterday’s brief ceremony for Ms McLoughlin at the university chapel, before removal to the family home in Mulgannon, Co Wexford. Her funeral Mass takes place tomorrow at the Church of the Annunciation, Clonard, at 10am.
