Norish returns to H1 profit amid improved trading

Norish said current trading is better than a year ago despite difficult markets as it reported a return to profit in the first half.

The food distribution and cold storage group said first half pretax profit was £0.4 million against a £0.2 million loss a year earlier on turnover marginally higher at £6.6 million from 6.5 million.

The interim dividend of 1.27 euro cents is maintained.

Chairman Brian Joyce said: "The business has gone through a period of consolidation and we are in a better position than twelve months ago with a reduced cost base, increased capacity and lower borrowings... We are meeting our immediate objective of steadily improving the company's operations."
