Ned Kelly, a leading fancy for the Smurfit Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, has been ruled out of Tuesday's race after working this morning.

Trainer Edward O'Grady said: "Ned Kelly worked satisfactory this morning but he didn't scope clear.

"It was decided not to risk him at Cheltenham on veterinary advice in the best interest of the horse.

"A big disappointment for all of us in the stable and the owner (Mrs Sue Magnier) but we would hope to have him back for Punchestown."
