Pat O’Donnell’s 12-metre shellfish boat, Iona Isle, sank on June 11th off Erris Head. He said he and his crewman, Martin McDonnell, were held captive by two armed men in the wheelhouse while two other men went below.

Calls for the incident to be investigated have been made by Labour Party president Michael D Higgins, Green marine spokesman Ciarán Cuffe, the Erris Inshore Fishermen’s Association and Shell to Sea, among others.
