Man to stand trial on driving charge

A Co Tyrone man is to stand trial on a charge of causing death by dangerous driving

A Co Tyrone man is to stand trial on a charge of causing death by dangerous driving. Mr Cathal John Morris (19), an apprentice electrician, of Aughascribba Road, Carrickmore, was remanded on bail to Omagh Crown Court on a date to be fixed when he appeared at Cookstown Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The prosecution arises out of a two-car crash on the main Cookstown-Omagh road on November 12th, 1998, in which Mr Shane Patrick McCann (20), of Carrickmore, was killed. Mr Morris also faces a charge of causing grievous injury to Mr Brian Monaghan (18), of Cookstown, by dangerous driving.
