London - When Mr Tony Dangerfield dialled his mobile telephone after it vanished from underneath the Christmas tree, he hardly expected his girlfriend's dog, Charlie, to start ringing.
Charlie, a large bloodhound, had sniffed out the package put under the tree by Mr Dangerfield's girlfriend, Ms Rachel Murrary. He clawed his way into the box and ate the telephone, according to the Sun daily yesterday.
The couple took Charlie to the local vet to check if he needed treatment, but, 24 hours after his meal, the telephone emerged when mother nature called.
