A Co Donegal man has pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to attempting to rape a young woman in the Buncrana area in 1998.
James Michael Devenney (38), single, from Ray, Manorcunningham, was remanded on continuing bail for sentence on February 29th, 2000.
Devenney admitted that he attempted to rape the woman at Ballymurry Lower, Buncrana, early on July 4th, 1998. He had previously pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting and assaulting the woman on the same occasion.
Mr Justice Smith directed the preparation of victim impact and probation reports for the sentence hearing.
