Gardai at Kilmainham are investigating the shooting at Tyreconnell Road, Inchicore, shortly before midnight. Officers rushed to the scene to find the victim with gunshot wounds to his left leg.

An ambulance crew took the man to St James Hospital where his injuries are described as non life threatening. "Initial investigations indicate that the victim was approached by a lone gunman who fired two shots," said a garda spokesman.
