A man has died following a suspected gangland shooting in Dublin this evening.

A man has died following a suspected gangland shooting in Dublin this evening.

The 20-year-old was shot at the Grove Lane halting site in Coolock at about 7.30pm.

He was taken by the Dublin Fire Brigade ambulance to Beaumont Hospital, but died a short time later.

He is believed to have suffered gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

The scene has been preserved pending forensic investigation and the State Pathologist has been informed.

The Grove Lane area has seen a number of drug seizures in recent months, including a major cocaine haul in January last year.
