A 24-year-old man was today charged with attempting to murder a teenager critically injured in an attack in west Belfast last week.

The 19-year-old victim was attacked as he walked home along the Upper Springfield Road in the early hours of Friday morning after a night out.

He was found in the street suffering from head injuries and was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

The accused is due to appear at Laganside Magistrates Court in Belfast tomorrow, said police.
