Labour hoping for two in Dublin NE

Labour are confident of getting two seats in the three-seat Dublin North East constituency

Labour are confident of getting two seats in the three-seat Dublin North East constituency. The party has increased its share of the vote from 15 per cent in 2007 to 35 per cent.

Fine Gael's Terence Flanagan was elected on the first count. Labour TD Tommy Broughan will be elected on the second count after securing 24 per cent of the first preferences.

The last seat will be between Labour's Seán Kenny, who is on 10.48 per cent and Sinn Féin's Cllr Larry O'Toole, who polled 12.13 per cent.

The Fianna Fáil vote in the constituency, which is Michael Wood's old seat, has collapsed from nearly 40 per cent to just 11.48 per cent for the single candidate Averil Power.

Her transfers will prove critical and they are likely to bring Cllr Kenny in ahead of Cllr O'Toole.
