Police in Japan took an unusual step today to help ensure a stolen baby is returned home unharmed - they posted child-care tips on their website for whoever

took the baby.

The Tottori Police home page features step-by-step instructions under the title “Matters that demand special attention in caring for newborn babies.”

“A bit of jaundice occurs in almost 100% of newborns, but special treatment usually is not necessary,” reads one part of the list.

Other tips include keeping the baby wrapped in a towel, giving her milk every three hours and not to forget to sterilise the bottle.

The baby was taken on Monday at a hospital in Yonago, 300 miles southwest of Tokyo, seven hours after she was born.

Police suspect a personal motive, like revenge, for stealing the infant because no ransom request has been made.
