A 21-year-old woman died following a collision between a car and a lorry on the Enniscorthy to New Ross road in Co Wexford this afternoon.

The crash left a passenger in the car seriously injured and she has been admitted to Wexford General Hospital along with the lorry driver. The crash occured near Clonroche at 2 p.m.

Two men were killed in car accidents overnight.

Twenty-three-year-old Damien Garret from Crossmolina, Co Mayo died when the car he was driving struck a bridge near his home.

The accident happened at Knockadangan, near Crossmolina, at about 1.45 a.m.

In another crash, a man in his late eighties was killed in Co Cork.

His car was in collision with another vehicle last night at Ballinhassig on the Dublin to Cork road, according to a Garda spokeswoman.

He has not been named.
