An investigation has been launched by gardaí in Limerick after an employee at a mobile phone shop was found tied up after being attacked by intruders.

The 41-year-old part-time employee of the Vodafone shop on O’Connell Street was found by another worker who arrived at the store at 9am yesterday. The victim, who suffered a slight injury to his face, told gardaí that two men were waiting downstairs in the shop when he arrived into work at about 8.30am.

The men used plastic cable ties to tie up his hands. They left without taking anything.

The man was brought to hospital where he was treated for shock and the minor injury to his face before being later discharged.
