Hynes named as chair of Bord Gáis

Rose Hynes has been appointed chair of the Bord Gáis Éireann (BGÉ) board.

Rose Hynes has been appointed chair of the Bord Gáis Éireann (BGÉ) board.

Ms Hynes has served on the board of BGÉ since June 2006 and succeeds Ed O’Connell who retired this June after 8 years as chairman.

Announcing the appointments, Minister for Energy Ryan said, Ms Hynes has both the acumen and the drive to lead Bord Gáis into the future.

Rose Hynes is a solicitor and member of the Court of Bank of Ireland. In addition, she is holds directorships at a number of companies including Total Produce, Bank of Ireland Mortgage Bank and Shannon Development Authority.

She was also previously a senior executive with the GPA Group, Fyffes, Aer Lingus and Concern.

In addition to Ms Hynes appointment, Laurence Crowly was also elected as a member of the BGÉ board today.
