Gardaí are searching for the driver of a car who injured four people after he drove his car through a crowd of people in Dublin's Temple Bar this morning.

A Garda spokesman said the apparent "hit-and-run incident" occurred near a nightclub on Cope St at 3 a.m. It appears that one of the injured people was dragged along by the car briefly.

The injured, three men and one women, were taken to St James's Hospital for treatment. The condition of one of the men is described as serious.

The spokesman added that the car - a black VW Golf - has been recovered and is being technically examined.
