Sweden's Anders Forsbrand made an amazing charge up the leaderboard in the early stages of the third round of the German Masters today.
Forsbrand began the day in joint last place, having made the halfway cut right on the mark at two under par at Gut Larchenhof.
But nine birdies and one bogey later he was up to 10 under par, into joint fifth place and only three shots off the lead held by home favourite Bernhard Langer.
The 40-year-old - whose last European Tour win came in this event in Berlin in 1995 - birdied three of the first four holes, bogeyed the fifth and then birdied the seventh to reach the turn in 33.
Five birdies in a row from the 10th then propelled him up the leaderboard and in contention for his first top-10 finish in three years.
Langer was due to tee off shortly with a two-shot lead over Mansfield's Greg Owen, Australian Stephen Leaney and Swede Fredrik Jacobson.
The veteran German is seeking his 11th tour title on home soil and an amazing 39th overall - and he looked in awesome form in compiling yesterday's second-round 64.
