THE ROYAL College of Surgeons in Ireland and UCD have launched an MBA in health services management, aimed at doctors, nurses and health sector managers.

This is a two year, part time programme designed to strengthen the management abilities of senior healthcare professionals, and it will cover a wide range of topics - including policy and planning, economics, organisational behaviour, leadership and change management.

For further information contact Theresa O'Hara at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, 123 St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2 (tel: (01 4780200).

This is the 23rd year of landscape painting courses at the Burren Painting Centre, Co Clare, and the season kicks off on April 26th with a two day course on drawing and painting the Burren landscape. Over the May Bank Holiday there is a three day course in all media; during the June Bank Holiday weekend those who like to paint in watercolours are catered for.

The programme continues right through the summer with short courses as well as those which run over six days, and the courses are normally residential. However, if places are available non residents may be accepted.

Daily excursions are made to painting sites to ensure that participants benefit from the fresh air. For those who decided to travel on the spur of the moment, art materials can be purchased at the centre.

For information contact Christine O'Neill (tel: (065) 74208; fax: (065) 74435).
