TRAIN drivers are to meet in Dublin on Sunday to discuss joining ASLEF, the British train drivers' union, reports Padraig Yeates, Industry and Employment Correspondent.
At present drivers with Iarnroid Eireann are all members of SIPTU or the National Bus and Railworkers' Union.
Most are also members of the National Locomotive Drivers Committee, which is the cross union grouping that has called the Sunday meeting.
Yesterday the general secretary of ASLEF, Mr Lew Adams, confirmed that he had met a delegation from the NLDC in London two weeks ago to discuss the establishment of an ASLEF branch in Dublin.

However, he was at pains to stress that talks were at a very early stage.
